In my industrial design graphics class, we were given the assignment to design an identity and exterior graphics program for the Checker Taxicab Company. I chose to do something “retro” and developed a program that extended to the stationary, uniforms, and interior. I also designed a program of artist-inspired special editions to renew interest in the Checker cabs. I based the platform on a taxi design by Giorgetto Guigaro (we weren’t asked and didn’t have time to design the car itself), though I did smooth the exterior design. I also designed a terminal to be used by the driver and a terminal for the passengers with an integrated travel guide. Lastly, I designed a limosine version with more understated and higher-quality materials.
