The Business Model Canvas is now well-known and is currently transforming both business schools and businesses. It is a decidedly designerly approach to developing a business model, from scratch, for any kind of organization.

However, despite its popularity and clarity, it has some glaring omissions: little support for how it evolves over time, unclear refinement for separate channels and market groups, and nothing about ecological or social impacts. The Flourishing Business Canvas is an approach to fix these very omissions. It’s an evolution of the BMC that pushes past its limitations. As such, it can be used just like the standard BMC, to start, but then allows for other decision-making on top of it.
